Handmade Concrete Pots
We Make Them One at a Time!
Everyone wants to know about the pots. They’re NOT made from lava rock, they just look like it. They’re a variation on a material called, “Hypertufa” which is essentially cement, peat moss and perlite. Here’s how we do it.
You will need: Perlite, Peat Moss, Fresh Portland Cement, Safety Equipment
How to Make It: Wear latex gloves because the chemicals in the cement will kill you. Wear a particle mask because the perlite dust will kill you AFTER it blinds you. Are you getting that this isn’t a casual arts and crafts project yet? Because its not.
Mix one part each of the ingredients then add water as needed to bring it to a consistency like cookie dough. If you don’t know what that is, then shame on you go make some cookies first.
Shape the pot as you would use clay but remember that concrete likes to lay flat as it doesn’t like, “up.” Spray it with some nice cheap spray paint. Don’t use expensive spray paint it won’t work. Drybrush it with a lighter color. If you don’t know what that is shame on you go paint models while hopefully eating the cookies you made earlier.
